In January I challenged myself to read the Book of Mormon cover to cover. I grew up in the church and can honestly say I had never, ever, ever read the BoM cover to cover. And I cannot count how many times I read, "I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents..."
I downloaded an app on my phone, Circle-BoM, and it helped keep me on track. The colors change if you are on track, falling behind, or reading ahead. Those darn colors were very motivating. I hated being in the red.
When I started getting close to the end, I freaked out. What was I supposed to do when I was done? Was that it? Congrats you read this book!..what next?
So I asked the missionaries. Their response, "Read it again." So that is what I am doing.
About a year ago my dad sent me a copy of the Book of Mormon. He had written his story of when he discovered the BoM to be true. He then proceeded to mark verses and write why they were important to him...or so I thought.
This book has sat on my shelf for that entire year. Until I decided to re-read the BoM. I am super excited to read this and learn from the passages my dad marked.
So today I was reading 1 Nephi 1-3. I found a note in 3:7. "This was Grandma Curtis's (Alice Kearsley Curtis 1907-1993) favorite scripture. She believed this scripture and lived it..."
What a surprise! Not only has my dad marked this book, but he is sharing family history too! I am so excited to keep reading and finding these small treasures!
